How to get rid of head lice naturally

Head lice can be eliminated quickly, easily, cheaply and safely with mayonnaise. Just take a jar of mayonnaise, set aside a good amount and cover all of your child’s hair with it, making sure to also cover behind the ears and the back of the head.

You can cover your head with a plastic cap to prevent the mayonnaise from dripping or falling onto your furniture. Leave the mayonnaise on the hair for two hours to smother the lice and nits.

Then remove the cap, throw it away and shampoo your hair well. You can wash it twice or more with shampoo to keep your hair clean.

If you don’t have any mayonnaise, you can also use Vaseline and follow the same procedure.

However, the only way to remove petroleum jelly from your hair is to rub it with baby oil and spread it all over your hair, so that you can remove all the product in this way.

Then wash your hair three times with shampoo and hot water.

More instructions

Vaseline, if you want, you can leave it on overnight, but this should not be done with mayonnaise, as it spoils when it is not refrigerated.

Remembering that your child can scratch his head while sleeping and put his fingers in his mouth.

If you don’t rely on mayonnaise or petroleum jelly to choke the lice, you can also make a natural lice shampoo.

With a base of five tablespoons of olive oil or coconut oil, add five drops of malaleuca essential oil, five drops of rosemary essential oil, five drops of lavender essential oil, five drops of mint essential oil and five drops of eucalyptus essential oil.

Add a small amount of the shampoo you normally use to the prepared mixture and place it all over your hair.

Leave it on for an hour, with the hair tied back with a towel or plastic cap to avoid leaking.

Rinse your hair and do not use conditioner at this step, however you will notice that the hair is easy to style after using this oily recipe.

Comments:

  1. The breathing of an infant or child under 5 years of age may slow or even stop if the peppermint oil or eucalyptus oil is too close to the child’s nose.
  2. High blood pressure can be elevated by the essential oil of mint.
  3. Mint or rosemary can be harmful during pregnancy. You must use the recipe without the oil that could be harmful in each case.

remove the nits

After shampooing, rinse hair and scalp with vinegar. This loosens the substance that keeps the nits trapped in the hair strands. Then rinse with warm water.

Manzana Vinegar-3

Many nits (eggs) are eliminated if you rinse with water after applying the vinegar, however, you will still have to deal with the remaining nits.

Mayonnaise may not kill the youngest nits, as the lice are not yet developed to need air.

Even if you don’t eliminate the nits, schools and day care centers will hardly allow your child to return to school.

Comb through all the tangles of hair with an ordinary comb, then comb with a unique comb to get rid of nits and lice. The comb can be purchased at a pharmacy.

check the hair

At the end of the treatment, be sure to thoroughly check the hair when it is dry (nits are more visible with dry hair). The nits are very small and make a kind of glow at a certain angle.

They tend to be at the hairline; the younger ones close to the scalp and the older ones a little farther away from the scalp.

You should check the hair in small parts, especially around the edges of the hair, around the neck and behind the ears. Keep in mind that nits can be in multiple regions of the hair.

If you find any nits, remove it with your fingernail, comb it with a comb or cut the hair that has the nit. Try to place the removed nits in a container with vinegar or hot water with soap and ammonia.

One more clarification

If you find some nits, make a vinegar wrap, if desired, to clean the hair even more. Moisten a towel with a mixture of half vinegar and half water, wrap it on the child’s head and let it act for an hour.

Allow the hair to dry, then check again for nits.

The eyebrows and eyelashes

If there are nits on the eyelashes or eyebrows, you can apply, without any contraindication, petroleum jelly; it must be reapplied four times a day.

check again

You should check your hair every day for missing nits or those that have become visible enough.

If a nit gets in the hair, another louse may come out and you will have to start the process again, as only one louse lays around eight new eggs a day.
