In this recipe you will use rice flour, as it is one of the most used to replace wheat. It has a neutral flavor and is the best option for preparing desserts. In addition, it provides a crunchy texture to any food.

Ingredients

  • Two cups of rice flour (240 g)
  • One cup of water (250 ml)
  • Two tablespoons of honey (50 g)
  • 3 tablespoons of butter (60 g)
  • One tablespoon of salt (15 g)
  • One tablespoon of gluten free yeast (15 g)
  • Half a cup of olive oil (125 ml)

Method of preparation

  • First, heat the water and butter in a large pot.
  • Then add salt and stir well.
  • Now, in a separate bowl, mix the honey with the gluten-free baking powder and the rice flour.
  • Then pour the butter mixture into the bowl and mix well so that the ingredients blend together.
  • Let the obtained dough rest for at least 5 minutes. This will make it more malleable.
  • Afterwards, heat a pan with oil over medium heat.
  • Transfer the churro dough into a pastry bag and shape directly in the pan. You must fry them until they turn golden.
  • Finally, let them dry on paper towels and sprinkle some brown sugar over them. You can also use dark chocolate syrup as a low-calorie flavoring option.

Gluten-free churros with buckwheat

For this recipe you can use buckwheat flour as it is a good source of fiber and protein. Also, according to a, this food is one of the best sources of polyphenolic compounds.

You will need to combine it with a little cornstarch so that your gluten-free churro dough doesn’t have a hard consistency. You will certainly enjoy trying them out!

Ingredients

  • One cup of buckwheat flour (120 g)
  • Half a cup of cornstarch (60 g)
  • One cup of water (250 ml)
  • Half a tablespoon of vanilla extract (7.5 ml)
  • One tablespoon of salt (15 g)
  • Two tablespoons of brown sugar (30 g)
  • Half a cup of grated dark chocolate (75 g)
  • Half a cup of olive oil (125 ml)

Method of preparation

  • First, mix all dry ingredients in a large bowl.
  • Then bring water to a boil in a pot. When it reaches the boiling point, remove from heat and let it get a little warm.
  • Then pour the water into the bowl with the mixture of dry ingredients to form a very thick dough.
  • Then add chocolate and vanilla extract and mash well. The consistency will be a little firmer than in the previous recipe, but it will make it easier for you to shape the churros yourself.
  • Proceed to making the churros, giving them the desired thickness and length. Here you can also use a pastry bag.
  • Put the oil to heat in a skillet over medium heat. When it’s hot, add the churros and wait for them to brown on both sides.
